France 2022/2023 Away Football Shirt
In this week's edition of Shirt of The Week, we are featuring the France 22/23 away shirt which we think is one of the best international shirts of the 2020s. The shirt has a beautiful toile de jouy-inspired pattern that showcases French national symbols such as the Arc de Triomphe. The base colour of the shirt is white with a light blue overlay, giving it a cloth-styled look, which toile de Jouy patterns are heavily associated with.
Although the kit was available to be used at the Qatar World Cup in 2022, the French side never wore it, even though they made it to the final of the competition. The shirt was primarily used during their qualification for Euro 2024, where it made appearances in matches against the Netherlands, Ireland, Gibraltar, and Greece.
France has been a great footballing nation since its foundation in 1904, but their most successful period began in the 1980s. Since then they have won 2 FIFA World Cups and 2 European Championships. Their first European Championship win came at Euro 84. Hugo Lloris, the former Tottenham Hotspurs captain, has made the most appearances for the French national side with 145 caps. The top goal scorer in their history is former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.
