Inter Milan 2019/2020 Home
On this edition of shirt of the week, we are taking a look at the unique Inter Milan 2019/20 home jersey. This kit features the traditional black and blue stripes of Internazionale with a strange twist! The area around the front sponsor showcases a switched up pattern, displaying diagonal stripes, contrasting from the vertical style on the rest of the top. 2019 marked the 21st consecutive year of Nike producing Inter’s kits and the 24th year of their sponsor partnership with Pirelli.
The 2019/2020 season could be described as a year of “what could have been” for the Italian side, as they finished 2nd in Serie A, only 1 point behind champions Juventus. Inter also reached the semi finals of the Coppa Italia and came runners up in the UEFA Europa League. Although it ended trophyless, Antonio Conte’s first year in charge of Nerazzurri was, however, a big improvement on the previous season. Finishing with 13 more points in Serie A and 24 more goals than in 2018/19. The signing of Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United also massively helped with the side's progression, as he scored an impressive 34 goals in all competitions during the 19/20 season.
Inter Milan are one of the most successful footballing sides in the history of Italy, winning a staggering 37 domestic trophies in their 116 year history, along with 3 Champions league/European Cup titles. The club was founded in 1908, when players from a different side (now known as AC Milan), wanted to be in a team that would be accepting of Italian and international players. This is where the naming "Internazionale" comes from.
