Salzburg 2022/2023 Home Football Shirt
This week we are taking a look at the fantastic Salzburg 22/23 home football shirt from last season. This jersey features a chevron pattern running down the front of the kit, Salzburg say that this design is made to look like a fast forward button, symbolising the fast speed of the Red Bulls style of play. The jersey consists of 3 main colours, a white base, grey detailing and a red collar and sleeve edges. There is also a small splash of yellow on the club badge and Red Bull sponsorship.
The 22/23 season was another successful one for the Austrian giants, domestically winning the Austrian Bundesliga for the 10th time in succession. Their performance in Europe was not quite as good as they finished 3rd in their UEFA Champions League group falling down to the Europa league. Salzburg were eliminated from the competition in the first knockout round after a 2-1 aggregate defeat to José Mourinho’s Roma.
Salzburg were founded in 1933 as SV Austria Salzburg and were eventually taken over by Red Bull in 2005. The owner of Red Bull, Dietrich Mateschitz, fully rebranded the club and wanted it to be known as a new club with no history - angering a lot of their traditional supporters. RB Salzburg has gone on to become one of the most successful clubs in Austrian football history. There are now multiple Red Bull football clubs including RB Leipzig in Germany and NY Red Bulls in the USA. All RB teams are known to play very high intensity, exciting styles of football.
