It’s that time of the year again! A new season of the MLS is soon to be underway from February 21st 2024. As always, Adidas has come out with some sensational kits so we thought we’d shine a spotlight on a few of our favourites from jersey week! It was extremely hard to narrow it down to just our top 5 kits but we’ve tried our best!
Seattle Sounders 2024 Home Football Shirt
We start off this blog post with, not just one of best MLS kits of the season, but potentially one of our favourite kits overall in 2024. The beautiful new Seattle home shirt celebrates 50 years of the football club with a throwback design paying homage to the NASL era of kits worn by the likes of Pele in the 1970s. The kit reminds us of some of our favourite MLS kits of the 90s, in particular the 1999 LA Galaxy Home shirt. The retro pinstripe design, along with the blue and green colour scheme, creates a stunning kit that we think is well worthy of celebrating 50 years of Seattle Sounders FC.
Seattle will be hoping to reach the MLS cup final in 2024 after a solid 2023. Seattle ended the 2023 regular season in 2nd place in the Western Conference (7th in the overall standings) but could not make it past the 1st round of the playoffs where they were knocked out by FC Dallas in the 3rd match of a best of 3 series. Sounders will have a tough opening game of the season traveling to LA to face 2023 MLS Cup finalists Los Angeles FC.
Charlotte FC 2024 Home Football Shirt
Next on our list is the fantastic Charlotte 2024 Primary Shirt known as the Carolina kit. The jerseys design takes inspiration from the topographical maps of the states of North and South Carolina. These 2 states have heavily contrasting terrain from tall mountains reaching over a 1000m in height, to super flat land spanning across the coastline. This is shown using 5 main colours that gradually get darker from the top to the bottom of the kit.
Charlotte are a very new side in the MLS, only making their debut in the 2022 season. 2023 saw the side make it into the wildcard games, after finishing 9th in the Eastern conference, but were defeated by NY Redbulls 5-2. Their 2024 campaign kicks off with a match against New York City FC on February 25th.
Minnesota United FC 2024 Home Football Shirt
Here at Mystery Football Shirts, we hate boring kits. So, a jersey that looks like outer space - we are all for! Nicknamed ‘The North Star State’, this seasons home shirt is inspired by the incredible Minnesota night sky. The jersey is primarily black with hundreds of stars spread out across the entire shirt with flashes of blue.
Minnesota struggled in the 2023 MLS season finishing 11th in the Western Conference and 21st in the overall standings. They host Columbus Crew in the first game of the 2024 at Allianz Field. The club is currently managed by Ex-Everton forward, Adrian Heath.
Los Angeles FC 2024 Home Football Shirt
This one won’t be a surprise to most of our long term followers, we absolutely love black and gold colour way shirts. Some of our favourites from over the years include stunners like the Corinthians 2018/2019 Special edition and the AIK 2021/2022 130th Anniversary shirt. We think the new LA FC kit fits right into this category of great shirts.
Similar to the Seattle shirt, this kit showcases a retro style pinstripe design. LA FC will start their 2024 League campaign against Sounders on February 24th 2024, they will be looking to go one better this season by winning the MLS cup ,after losing 2-1 to Columbus Crew in 2023.
Atlanta United FC 2024 Away Football Shirt
Last but certainly not least in our Top 5 MLS 2024 football shirts list, is the Atlanta 2024 “Resurgens kit”. The blue and yellow jersey showcases a phoenix under the badge which “symbolises Atlanta’s relentless pursuit of rebuilding upon what once was.” The colours and style of the kit also bear resemblance to the Flag of the city of Atlanta.
Atlanta FC had a solid 2023, making it to the first round of the playoffs but suffering an agonising defeat in the 3rd match of a best of 3 series against Columbus crew, who went on to win the MLS Cup.
